As a child growing up in Vermont I was surrounded by vegetation. I loved the green in spring and the vibrant reds, yellows and oranges of fall. Always looking for the perfect leaf that had fallen, I began giving the most beautiful ones to my friends and family as gifts of nature’s beauty. I even tried pressing some of them, but the color never lasted.
In this series I try to capture the colors and patterns of leaves as if you were to see them on trees in spring or on the ground in fall. Vermonters always expect an influx of tourists as they drive very slowly on our roads to admire the fall colors and take pictures. We called these tourists, “Leaf Peepers.”
Having lived on the west coast for some time now, I have been inspired to incorporate other types of leaves not native to Vermont. I’m always in awe of nature’s ability to inspire me and am very excited to share my “Leaf Peeper” series with others.
